Hopefully this information helps explain the situation. But this isn't how Microsoft does things, for good and bad. And as always we balance the priority of this versus other features since it is a large time investment.Ī number of years ago the entirety of the Mac UI was re-written with new Apple systems, which was a multi year project, but it allowed for us to use dark mode more or less out of the box when Apple added the feature. It is important work to do but we also need to be careful because users will not directly gain any benefits from this work, they will just see the bugs, until the whole system is ready to be turned on.

We have been steadily working for a number of years at updating these systems to support new themes and adaptive colors. And in addition, a new theme doesn't just change the colors it can also change the sizing of things, which can lead to cropped controls etc. All of these places need to be modified to support the new theme. They may have hard coded colors, such as black that would disappear when the theme is changed, or other visual problems, and the icon system also needs to support the change. Because of the size of the application, we have hundreds of custom controls, palettes, dialogs, etc that were built with a certain theme and certain colors in mind. Adaptive colors allow for a line to be dark in one theme and light in another. The main code for the Windows UI of Vectorworks is 20+ years old based on MFC, which does not directly support adaptive colors. There are multiple threads on this topic going back to 2017, many answered by people who don't even work there anymore. Is there any update on either of these items? I'm happy to go through this more with you and would love to see this fixed, although it would be best to shift to email or create another thread so as to not hijack this one Berge Seems like this hasn't been remedied in v2023 & I haven't heard anything since this forum exchange a year ago. I noticed this error and emailed a bug report last year (followed up with another one earlier today), but it seems that it's been this way since at least VW2020. The file I took that screenshot from was a new one that had nothing else in it but that text block. (We're a structural engineering firm that primarily uses 2d tools and doesn't rely on transparency, gradients, renderings, etc. This happens in every file if GDI+ Imaging is turned off, and we generally leave it turned off because it creates text rendering problems with our key. Thanks for checking in - I appreciate it. You send me a file to work with? I'm not seeing the same thing and I'd like to figure out what's going on for you.
